How To Check ATAG Boiler Water Pressure
If you have the ATAG Economiser installed then you will need to know how to check the water pressure on this system. You will see your pressure gauge on the underside of your boiler on the left-hand side. Topping up the ATAG boiler water pressure is much like topping up any boiler water pressure but highlighted here for your ease and comfort is a bespoke example for the ATAG economiser.
It is the gauge which is on the furthest left of the underside.
How Much Water Pressure Is In My Boiler System?
This gauge is an indication on how much pressure is in your system. As with most boiler models, the ATAG boiler water pressure should be around 1.5 bar. If you would like to know what happens if you over pressurise your boiler or are concerned you have too much pressure in your boiler, there are separate learning materials that we can provide you with if you wish to know. But for now, let’s continue.
Bleeding Radiators & Dropping Water Pressure.
If after bleeding your radiators you find your pressure has dropped too low, then you will need to “top up” the pressure back using the valves on the bottom of the boiler. On all boiler models, this is the part most people worry with in fear that they will turn the wrong valve and destroy the boiler! Rest assured that turning the wrong dial will not blow up your boiler! Your ATAG Economiser is safe!
As you can see on the image, the two circled handles are the ones you need to turn. These valves are located on the two most right valves on the underside of the boiler.
Topping Up The Water Pressure On The ATAG Economiser Boiler
They two handles need to be turned at the same time in order to fill the system back up. As you open them both up, you will start to hear the water re enter the system. At this point your eyes should be focused on the pressure gauge the left-hand side of the boiler, you can see what this looks like on the image above.
When you can see that the ATAGE boiler water pressure has reached approximately 1.5 Bar, close both of the handles, otherwise you may close off the cold water supply and not receive hot water coming out of your hot taps. If, after filling your pressure, you find no water coming out of your taps, you have not turned back the handles which you originally turned to fill the system.
Troubleshooting & Further Help
This simple trouble shooting exercise usually means you solve the question of why does my boiler pressure keep dropping. However, if the problem persists you may need an engineer to look at your system.
