Worcester Boilers; a brief history of heat!
The company quickly expanded, even as far as having Japanese company Sunwave produce their boilers under licence in the far east. With the introduction of a combi boiler range in the early 1970s, the company doubled their production capacity and began following the industry trend of gas fired boilers instead of oil fired units. The company further expanded in the late 70s with the purchase of Derbyshire company Delgo Appliances. No even having the factory destroyed by fire could stop them, this seemingly devastating turn of events only halting production for 3 weeks!
The company continued to expand and in 1992 joined the Bosch group, becoming a vital element of the industry giant’s European premier domestic heating business, thus altering the company name from Worcester Boilers to Worcester Bosch.
Energy Efficient Boilers
The company began to develop it’s range of environmentally friendly boilers and in 1999 launched the Environment 2000 awards scheme, celebrating energy efficient installations. The company’s continued development of their Greenstar range among others earned them top awards from the Chelsea Flower Show, Which magazine and OFTEC.
Bosch celebrated it’s 150 year anniversary in 2011, and Worcester Boilers its 50th anniversary the year after. The company remains committed to developing and promoting energy efficient central heating systems and continues to win awards not only for their fantastic products but also for their customer service and support of the Armed Forces.
